Crossfire Around ADC Hall in Baidoa Town

Baidoa,(insidesomalia.org)-Crossfire took place ADC hall in the southern commercial town of Baidoa some 245km from the Somali capital Mogadishu where the Somali government parliamentarians have their meetings.

An officer who was among the sentries of the meeting hall told the media that men armed with pistols attacked the hall at around 8:30pm Somali time.

“We heard the speculations that there is probability at attack at the ADC hall and we went out to learn what is taking place outside the hall and we saw these armed chaps in a place not far from the hall and we exchanged fire and eventually dispersed them” said the officer.

The exchanging of fire between the two sides, which was in action for minutes, could be heard in the neighborhoods.

There was no immediate confirmation of casualties between the two warring sides.

The security situation of Baidoa town was tranquil this morning after the confrontation of overnight and the talking point today was the combat of last night.

Special forces from the house and reinforcing police forces reached at the ADC hall and have taken the control of the hall a brief time and carried out search operation in the vicinity and so far there no reported arrest of suspects.

Yet there is no comment from the government side regarding about the attack of last night at the ADC hall, which is the temporary parliament base of the Transitional Federal Government.

On the other hand the security of the town was tautened today and policemen were deployed on the main streets.

The arrival of the Somali premier and some other dignitaries who is due land in the town is part of the tightening of the security.
